Iya Arepina, a Soviet/Russian film actress - today is her 90th birthday
Iya Arepina was born on the July 2, 1930 in Ardatov, Mordovia in a peasant family, she was the 7th child in a large family. Since childhood, I dreamed of becoming a film actress. She graduated from VGIK in 1954. She made her film debut in the films "Steppe dawns" and "Big family". She was named Best Actress at the 1955 Cannes Film Festival for her performance in “Bolshaya Semya”. She has appeared in 30 films. But the biggest success was the role of Masha in the film "the captain's daughter", where she played together with Oleg Strizhenov and Vyacheslav Shalevich. This role made the actress famous all over the world. I. Arepina starred in famous films: "Red leaves", "the Wrestler and the clown", "Ilya Muromets". And then I. Arepina was forgotten for a long time from the mid-60s because of a conflict with the Director. In the theater, I. Arepina played only 5 roles. In 1991 and 1992 And.Arepina survived heart attacks, and 2 years later she became ill with asthma. I. Arepina was very vulnerable and felt a lot of stress all her life. She was offered to teach children the basics of acting. She was happy to agree, but, alas... she did not have time. Iya Arepina was married twice, and had a son, Julius, and a daughter, Ladu. I. Arepina died on July 24, 2003. in Moscow at the age of 73.
